My name is Katie Cowart. I am a 4th year English major with a minor in Classical Culture. I changed my major a few times from Criminal Justice to History to Biology. As a Biology major, all I wanted was to have time to read. Also, I was awful at chemistry. Becoming an English major was the obvious choice. I'm not sure why I didn't start with it. Reading has always been an important part of my life. I feel strongly that the books I read as a child raised me. The Undergraduate English Association is important because it shows that there is a way to make a career out of this major. There are so many things that you can use an English degree for, and it's important to get the message out there for people who love literature but think they have to be a doctor to be successful in life.
